Anchored by the much-photographed triangular building, the Flatiron District has blossomed into a destination for foodies chasing Michelin stars (11 Madison Park, Aldea, Bouley at Home, The Clocktower and Gramercy Tavern) with the added bonus of the original Eataly and proximity to the Union Square farmer’s market. Pedestrian plazas on Broadway are set with tables and chairs, creating a restful spot to take in the majestic Beaux-Arts and cast iron buildings that came to define the area. In the middle of it all is Madison Square Park, an urban sanctuary with rotating public installations by acclaimed artists including Sol LeWitt and Maya Lin, as well as the location of the first-ever Shake Shack.
